Singapore Esports Association unveils representatives for Global Esports Games 2021

With three months to go till the inaugural Global Esports Games (GEG), the Singapore Esports Association has announced the list of athletes that will represent team Singapore in the competition.

Qualifiers for Dota 2, in the open and female categories, as well as eFootball PES 2021 were announced in August 2021 with registrations opening on the 27th of that month. The selections also were held on the 18th & 19th of September, as popular fighting game title Street Fighter V was given a direct seed.

Qualified competitors will undergo an athlete development program in the weeks leading up to the competition. The program includes online workshops, which deal with physical and mental conditioning, along with preemptive prevention of common Esports-related injuries through physical exercise.

As Singapore is acting as the host city for the Global Esports Games, the aforementioned qualified representatives will directly qualify into the GEG World Finals, Singapore’s National Team will bypass the Regional Qualifiers.

The Global Esports Games will begin with an Opening Ceremony on the 17th of December, with games slated to begin on the same day and is scheduled to conclude on the 19th of December.
