Ubisoft Singapore’s Skull & Bones get another delay
At one point, I was really excited about Skull & Bones, the pirate game being developed in our own backyard. Who wouldn’t have been? I immensely enjoyed Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and a game dedicate to skullduggery is right up my alley.
It’s starting to feel, though, like I’m not really going to care about the game by the time it releases. I’ve still got a bad taste in my mouth from Cyberpunk 2077, and any games that get delayed this many times are automatically red-flagged in my mind.
It was supposed to come out in 2018, and has received a yearly delay since then, from 2019, 2020, 2021, and now potentially 2022-23. All the excitement I felt about the announcement, plus the other gameplay videos that crept up, has all but evaporated.
It would be awesome of Skull & Bones ended up being a great game, but it’s honestly going to have some groundbreaking features for me to want to try the game now. I’ve already got Sea of Thieves to scratch that pirate itch, and they actually released in 2018 and still update the game.
I will cautiously approach this game if it ever does come out. In about a week, I’m going to forget it actually exists again.
